Breathwork
I facilitate therapeutic breathwork sessions that allow participants to tap into the wisdom of their bodies - to release, retune, and reset. This practice helps us show up to the world as all of who we are (no matter what it throws at us). I believe that when we invest in our own healing, we are better able to respond rather than react to situations and conversations from our own defenses and trauma.
Breathwork can support us in building a world that cares for us all.
What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is simply the practice of bringing conscious awareness to our breath. In fact, the act of simply noticing our breath is breathwork.
While breathwork can take many forms, different styles are used to create different results. We can use the breath to re-regulate our nervous system, to soothe ourselves, to boost our energy, to process through trauma and stuck energy and emotions, or even to tap into altered states of consciousness.
It is a powerful tool to tap into the innate wisdom of our bodies.
Why Breathwork?
Rev. angel Kyodo Williams writes, “Love is space. It is developing the capacity. It is developing own capacity for spaciousness within ourselves for others to be as they are.” I orient my breathwork practice towards creating that space.
And here is a bit about my story with it: For as long as I can remember I’ve experienced chronic anxiety and self-doubt. Breathwork teaches me how to actively re-regulate my nervous system and to find grounding in my body. It has allowed me to process and heal through stuck emotions and experiences stored in tissues. It offers me space to re-wire my brain out of the "not enoughness" it was trained into. Now, as a trained facilitator, I’m passionate about connecting others to their inherent worthiness and brilliant through the breath.
Virtual Offerings:
Breathing into Infinitude: Breathwork and Writing
Tuesdays at 8pm ET/5pm PT (on Zoom)
This class focuses on the power of breath and language in cultivating embodied transformation. It blends a grounding meditation, poetic offerings, the three-part breath, reflective journaling, and community building.
The active, three-part breath is a circular breath pattern that invites space for us to let go and release control of the body through conscious connected breaths. This breath invites us to explore our physical and emotional state of being in a held environment, in order to create space to live into our most liberated selves.
To Prepare:
Bring a fresh piece of paper and your most sentimental pen. Have a comfortable space to lie down.
Bring your curious spirit and your coziest set-up (candle, tea, blanket, water, eye mask etc.)
Bring your glorious self.
Note: Breathwork is best not to eat a large meal within 90 minutes of this style of breathing.
Safety:
I am deeply committed to your safety and providing a generative experience for you as a participant. The style of breathing we will work with during this class is not recommended for those living with epilepsy or serious cardiovascular disease, those who have experienced a stroke or brain aneurysm, or those who are pregnant. Additionally, if you are new to this class, please fill out this short questionnaire. -https://airtable.com/shrehWvyoP327s3Ir.
This will provide me with the necessary information to be able to support you during class. If you have any questions or medical concerns about practicing breathwork, please reply and let me know! I may suggest you consult with your medical provider or book a private session to explore different styles of breathwork.
Exchange:
Classes are available via On Zoom for a sliding scale cost of $10-30.
This scale is offered in recognition that in an inequitable society dollars hold different values for different people, depending on economic status. I offer this sliding scale as a way of holding an ecosystem of community care. I've set a base value of $20 per participant to honor my time and energy and the value of this container. I invite those who are financially and systemically resourced to pay above cost, and those who have limited access to financial resources to allow themselves to be supported.
